I personally love making cards because I always think they are unique and homemade. Now, whether it is for a birthday, Easter or any other special occasion I always like to give at least one homemade card to the family. This year we decided to make a few homemade Christmas cards along with my wonderful little elf, Sophia. She loves to make cards and of course anything she can glue she is all over it, LOL.
Here are the supplies that you will need:
- Construction Paper or Scrapbooking paper
- Glue
- Scissors
- Scrapbooking stickers (Christmas designs)
- Scrapbooking Alphabet stickers
- Yarn (red)
- pompoms (white)
- Hole Punch
- Two tree sticks
- Glitter (gold, silver or any color you desire)
- Ribbon (any color you desire)
- Felt (white)
- Stamps and ink pad
Note: Image does not show all of the supplies that are listed above. I had to improvise while making these cards.
I asked Sophia what kind of card she would like to make, and she gave me three suggestions which were Santa Claus, a Christmas tree, and a Snowman. They sure were fantastic ideas, and I wanted an ornament card too. Now, we were ready to make those cards. First, fold the construction paper in half.
I started with the Snowman, which was very easy. I just made a circle and an big oval shape and Sophia glued them on top of each other. Cut the nose out of the orange construction paper in a triangle shape. Then, hole punch several black round circles, which will be used for the eyes and the buttons. I Cut out his lovely hat out of the black construction paper and glued it on too. Next, cut a piece of red yarn to make his beautiful scarf. I was going to make some arms out of construction paper, but Sophia said snowmen have arms made out of tree branches. So, mama had to stop and make a quick run to the backyard to pick up two small tree branches and cut them nicely to fit on both sides of the snowman. And there you have it, our beautiful Frosty The Snowman holiday card .
The next Holiday Card was the Christmas tree. I quickly drew a Christmas Tree design on a piece of paper and cut it out. Then, Sophia glued it on. I used my hole punch one more time to cut out a lot of different colors of circles, which will become ornaments. Sophia glued them all on so patiently, she’s a great little helper. Now, it was time to place the presents underneath the Christmas tree. This part was her favorite. She kept asking, is that present for me. LOL.
The Santa Clause card was really easy to make. Cut out a round circle out of white paper and glue it down. I used two black circles for the eyes and of course made some rosy cheeks for Santa out of light pink paper. Sophia drew his beautiful smile and glued his long beard, which was made of felt. She glued his hat on and used a white small pom pom at the end of the hat. Sophia decorated the card the way she wanted to and she loved it.
Now, it was my time to create my ornament card. I used a nice round cookie cutter and made two beautiful circles slightly over each other . I poured some glue horizontally over each circle and sprinkled silver glitter over one, and gold glitter over the other. Then, I placed two lovely curly ribbons on top of each ornament and decorated with lovely stickers. Voila, now we have created beautifully looking Homemade Holiday Cards for everyone to enjoy.
Now, I hope you enjoy this craft project and hope you will make some of your own unique Homemade cards for that special person you can think off. This would definitely make them smile.
Happy Holidays
I like making homemade cards too.

i love homemade things! They are simply the best especially when made with the kids.
I have a post comin up on this but I’ll give you a sneek peak – lol! We bought plain boxes this year and I let the girls decorate and draw on them for their grandparents presents! What a hit & so much better than wrapping paper that just gets torn & tossed aside! Both grandma’s kept the boxes as keepsakes and my lil divas had a great time making them!!!!
