Another wonderful project in the making. I love beautiful chairs. Yes believe me, if I can have a house full of beautiful chairs, I would do so:). Anyway, I came across this wonderful antique chair with needle point fabric and ideas began to swirl in my head for this sweet chair. It was very dirty and dusty, so it really was screaming for help. It had a beautiful frame and it was so unique, I knew I could fix it up and make it come alive. All it needs is some TLC and a coat of paint and some new fabric, then it will look as good as new.
I was ready for this task, and had all the supplies at hand. I literally took everything of the chair apart. At first I did not want to take the back of the chair off, but then I thought it would be easier to paint. I prepped my chair completely and painted it a lovely bluish gray color. I love how the paint really dries quickly so I could immediately start sanding the chair.
Now, I was ready to reupholster my chair. I ironed my main fabric beforehand, and took all of the old pattern pieces from the chair and placed those on the new fabric. Then it was time to use my Pneumatic staple gun with air compressor. Believe me, if you are ever considering to reupholster a chair definitely use that. It is so much faster, and before you know it you have a professional looking chair.
Putting everything back in place such as the batting can be quite tricky. You need all your strength to pull and press the staple gun, this way you have everything nice, firm and neat. Once everything was stapled in place, I got some beautiful trimming that matched the chair pretty well and glued it on. Voila! I was done, finished and was quite happy with the results.
My son, just loves the chair and he keeps on sitting on it, and does not want to get off. I even took several snap shots. Too cute indeed.
Now, stay tuned, I am in the process of working on an e-book regarding some of my furniture paintings, reupholster projects, tips and more. Once I have it completed I will let you all know how to get it.
Sincerely,
Enjoy, until next time!
