Being a parent we all have to go through the Potty training stage with our children. It can be quite challenging and stressful at times, but I will share you my methods on how I handled it all.
First of all, I have an energetic little boy who is three and a half years old. He loves to play soccer, draw, dance, paint, and sings the alphabet song like it is a top 40 radio hit. It was approximately 6 months ago that I started to find ways to potty train him. Believe me, it can be even harder to train a boy than a girl, but that did not stop me from trying.
The first method I decided to use on my son was to give him some reward stickers when he goes to the potty. One of his favorite characters is the amazing Spiderman, so I ended up buying a pack full of Spiderman and other super hero stickers. Then, I printed a weekly chart with info such as, when he went to pee, poo, flushing toilet and washing his hands. Each item he did successfully he was rewarded a sticker to place on the chart.
He was so excited to get the stickers, that he did it for a week or so. However, he got tired of receiving those stickers so he was not interested in going to the potty anymore. So I decided to just try another method.
The second method was for him to not the wear any diapers or underwear. Yes, it was a big mistake because I had to keep an eye on him 24/7. So this method was immediately erased out of mind.
The third method was the winning result. I just decided that I won’t put on the diaper during the day but only at night. Then, every 30 minutes I directed him to the potty. At first he struggled, but I kept him on a consistent schedule. I am not going to tell you it was smooth sailing, but after a week he was going when I directed him. Then, I had another method to enhance my potty training to a whole other level.
As you know, my son loves to dance. So whenever I do something around the house I tend to make up songs and we all dance in the house. This time I made a song which just came out spontaneously. My son was so excited when I sang it that he started to go to the potty on a regular basis. I finally had a reason for him to go on the potty on a regular basis and now he is wearing underpants and is so happy and comfortable going to the potty on his own. Yay!
So, for all the parents everywhere, I thought that is was harder to teach boys to potty but to me they are all the same. In my opinion keep the consistency, keep a daily schedule and make going to the potty fun. This will allow your child to enjoy going to the potty. And save you all from having to buy so many diapers!

I remember when my son was little he loved dinosaurs so I made a dinosaur chart and would give him dinosaur stickers and then later he graduated into wanting a toy so if he would do good for 5 days we would go to the store and he would pick out a really cool hot wheel car. I miss those days because now he wants $60.00 games. Loved your review and you are right consistency is everything!
