Holiday Gift Guide: Brother Project Runway Innov-ís 40 Sewing Machine

November 14, 2010

At a young age, my mom introduced me to a sewing machine and what it can create. My mom loved to sew in her spare time, and design unique custom clothing for us. We were so eager to learn sewing, that we helped her out whenever we could with her sewing projects. From that day on until now, I still have the love and passion for sewing and creating one of kind clothing for my little one and myself as well. Since, I enjoy sewing so much I wanted to introduce you all to this unique new sewing machine the  Project Runway’ Limited Edition Innov-ís 40 machine. “Brother is the exclusive sewing and embroidery licensee of Project Runway, which is why they are the only machine manufacturer to offer ‘Project Runway’ Limited Edition machines”. If you are well skilled at sewing or just beginning, you will definitely love the Brother Innov-is 40 machine. It has a wide variety of decorative stitches, and wonderful easy to use machine features. Here are some the machine’s main features:

  • Available at Authorized Innov-ís Dealers Only
  • 40 built-in stitches, including 5 one-step auto-size buttonhole styles
  • Stitch selection via dial and LCD
  • 7-point feed dogs
  • Free-motion stitching
  • Jam resistant top bobbin with Quick-set™ bobbin
  • Built-in needle threading system

I was sent the new Brother Project Runway Innov-ís 40 to try out. The minute I received it, I was totally hooked on this machine. The instruction manual was easy to understand, so I was ready to browse some of the features on the sewing machine. The machine has a total of 40 built in stitches, so imagine how many beautiful designs you can create. You choose your stitch selection via a jog dial and LCD. The Innov-ís 40 has plenty of accessory feet to choose from.

The machine came with the following:  “Feet, seam ripper, needle set, twin needle, bobbins, eyelet punch, cleaning brush, screwdrivers, spool caps, accessory bag, foot controller, instruction manual” This will definitely be handy while you start your first sewing project or your next fashionable design.

Now, with all these wonderful features, I was set out to create a one of a kind christmas outfit for the little one to wear during the holidays. I made a lovely holiday pants set which features a A-line top pattern and matching pants with ruffles. I just love ruffles, it gives it that extra little bit of flare to the outfit, and Sophia loves them as well. The Brother Innov-is 40 made ruffles so easy, that I really didn’t have to do a lot of gathering. All I did is adjust stitch length to its longest setting and started to make beautiful ruffles. The straight stitch is so neat on the fabric and the jog dial is very easy to use. The screen/display control panel also known as the LCD shows you exactly which stitch to select and which feet goes with that selection. I love that so much because I tend to forget which feet I have to attach, so this feature comes quite handy for me ,and I know for most of you as well.

I was ready to cut my pattern and wanted to create a beautiful applique on the top, so it can look even prettier. Sophia of course loves her initials so I decided to make the “S” as an applique. I selected the applique stich, which was an easy on the eye decorative stitch that I just love. The “S” applique really stood out, especially with the candy cane fabric I chose.

Next, I used the same candy cane fabric to make some unique custom buttons. Then, it was time to make my button holes. For a beginner making button holes can be quite challenging, but believe me with the Brother Project Runway Innov-ís 40 Sewing Machine, it will all change. I love making button holes, so when I found out that the machine has 5 built in button- holes styles you can imagine how I felt. I was very happy indeed. I created the button holes very easily, and attached the matching buttons to the top. To give the top an extra little touch of cuteness, I added some ruffles at the button of the top. Voila! The pants are made of the candy cane fabric and I added some ruffles to the button of the pants as well.

There you have it, Sophia in her one of kind boutique Christmas pant set, created from the Brother Project Runway Inov-is 40 machine. Now you can create your own unique custom outfit for your loved one as well. The Brother Project Runway Inov-is 40 is the perfect machine to get you on the right track to create your own designer fashions and more.

Thanks for the follow! Following you back. I am not a great seamstress, but I do sew. I’d love a machine that also does embroidery, so maybe I’ll check out some of the the other Brother machines. ~Jamie

Wow what a beautiful outfit you madr for Sophia. Looks like one of those expensive Mud Pie outfits. Looks like the Brother machine was really an all in one machine for this project.

I too have wonderful fond memories of learning to sew from my grandmother. I still enjoy sewing amd am an avid quilter too. I taught my daughters how to sew and cannot wait to teach my granddaught too.

First, your bebe’s outfit is KAHute!!! Great job!

I have a very expensive embroidery machine that I also use to sew as well; however, my Not-So-Bebe Girl Autumn really wants her own sewing machine. I think that this would be a great one for her, and as she learns more, she’ll still have more advanced functions available to her. Thanks for the review!

Great review! I’ll have to keep this one in mind as I am setting out to find a new sewing machine, but I think the Inov-is 40 will stay at the top of my ‘I Really Want It’ list!!!!

Very cute outfit! My Grandmother loved all things thread, sewing, embroidery and quilting, and she would also do scrapbooking with fabric. All things sewing related remind me so much of her!

This would be a lifesaver for me because I always need to do hems and HATE doing them by hand since I don’t currently have a sewing machine.

I think my first project would be a somewhat ambitious one, I would like to make a photo quilt for my mom with pictures of the family in it and make satin edges all around. I think she will cry when she sees it! Thanks for hosting, great giveaway!
