Christmas Ornament Cookies

December 13, 2010

As you already know we love cookies at my house, so today we are going to make Christmas Ornament Cookies. These are super simple to make and the kids get to decorate their own ornament cookie. Here is what you will need.

1 Sugar Cookie Chub
Colored Sugar Sprinkles
Icing
Food Coloring (red, green)

The first thing you do is pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees. Then take your sugar cookie chub and unwrap it. Then, slice the chub into cookies. Once the cookies are cut, lay them out on your cookie sheet and decorate them with the sprinkles. Put the cookie sheet in the oven for approximately 10-12 minutes. Once they are done, take them out of the oven and let them cool off.

Once the cookies are cool, you can decorate them even more with the icing. Place some white icing in a ziploc bag with some drops of food coloring. Then, tie a twisty tie around the top and have your little one squish it around until the food color blends with the icing. Next cut a tiny hole at the end of the bag, and let your little one decorate the ornament cookies. Let them make stripes, circles, zig-zags or anything their minds can imagine. Remember it not about how it looks, but how much fun you have.  Based on the video, you can tell that Sophia had a blast with it.

After all the ornament cookies have been decorated, you can eat them right away, or place them inside a sandwich bag and tie with tulle or ribbon. Then place them in a holiday tin for a wonderful Christmas present. Or, you can place them on a plate the night before Christmas, for a hungry Santa delivering presents.

I hope you all enjoy the video, and let me know what cookies you will make or like for Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you and your family

Thanks for sharing the video with us! I will definitely try this next time I make sugar cookies. I baked some a couple of weeks ago and I ended up with a big mess in my kitchen.
