Chocolate covered strawberries

January 18, 2011

Yes, as always I was craving for something sweet today and what would be better than to make some snacks while watching a movie or better yet, to give you an idea what to make on Valentine’s Day.

Now, I decided I will be making some delicious chocolate covered strawberries and why not add some pretzels along with it. Let’s start and see what we will need.

Supplies

  • 1 package or 5 ounces of semi sweet melting chocolate
  • 1 package or 3 ounces of white melting chocolate
  • 1 pound of strawberries with stems
  • 1 package of pretzels
  • crushed almonds
  • powdered coconut
  • wax paper

First, I washed the strawberries and placed them aside. Take two pots and fill those with a couple of inches of water on a medium heat stove.  Once the water started to simmer, I placed two bowls over each pot and placed the white chocolate in a bowl and the chocolate in the other. As the bowls full of chocolate start to melt, take a spoon to stir them smoothly. Once both bowls of chocolate are melted and smooth turn off the stove.

Now the fun begins, and you can start dipping your strawberries in both chocolate mixtures or you can alternate. First, get a nice cookie sheet and place some wax paper over it. I first started to dip my strawberries in the chocolate mixture and then dipped it in the crushed almonds. I continued the same process and dipped them in coconut powder as well. After I covered all the strawberries with chocolate, it was time to place them in the refrigerator to cool for 30 minutes or so.

Now, it was time to dip the pretzels in the chocolate mixture. Then repeat the same process as with the strawberries, and sprinkle the pretzels in the almonds, coconut, or sprinkles. Once they are done I placed those in the refrigerator as well. Voila- done!

Now, we have made our yummy chocolate covered strawberries and pretzels.  Great for anyone to snack on Valentine’s Day,  while watching a movie or just when you feel like snacking, like me.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,
