Valentine’s Heart Tree!

January 24, 2011

Well, it is about that time again when we have to start on another craft idea.  It has been a little too long, so now I will show you all how to make a wonderful Valentine’s Tree for you to enjoy. This project is fun, colorful and easy to do with your little ones.  Now lets start.

You will need the following supplies:

  • Pink Tree
  • Construction Paper (Red and Pink)
  • Glue stick (Silver)
  • Glitter
  • Scissors
  • Yard (red or pink)
  • Hole Punch
  • Doilies
  • Heart sticks (Valentine stickers)

First, you will reach for your pink and red construction paper and start cutting heart shapes out of the paper. You can also use a heart shape cookie cutter and trace it on the paper and cut it out as simple as that. Now, reach for your glue stick and overlap the small heart shapes over the larger red heart shape paper. Start to alternate the colors and shapes and continue the process until you reach  the amount of Valentines ornaments you want and then, decorate with stickers.

Get your doilies and start cutting out more heart shapes. Get some red paper and glue the heart shape doilie on top of the paper. Cut out the shape of the doilies to match the red paper. Make as many as you desire and decorate them with those wonderful heart shape valentine stickers.

Take your hole punch, and start punching all the Valentine ornaments at the top-center of the heart. Reach for your red yarn, cut a few strips, and pull the piece of red yarn through the hole of the ornament and tie a knot. This way you can hang all your Valentine ornaments on the tree.

To give it a little extra pizzaz, make a lovely string of girls out of a piece of construction paper.  It will look fantastic. Now, get the doilies and completely cut out the center, this will leave a nice lace looking heart shape. Glue that on a piece of red paper and cut out the heart shape. Decorate it the way you want and place that on the top of the tree. Voila! Now, you have made your own Valentine’s Tree with homemade ornaments.  Isn’t that a wonderful kid friendly craft idea.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,
