Alphabet Floor Puzzle

January 31, 2011

One day as I was thinking of new ways to teach my daughter the alphabet, I thought let’s paint the letters and paint something that starts with that letter. So off we went to grab our paint, paper and brushes. We both took turns painting the letters and objects. As we painted I would ask her, what starts with A, B, C and so on; or I would ask her what letter comes next. We had so much fun creating the letters and pictures. Even daddy had to join in on the fun.

Supplies:

  • Paint
  • Brushes
  • Paper
  • Palette (egg carton)

Then after all of our letter paintings were dry, an idea popped up inside my head. I decided to spread all the paintings around the floor, and asked Sophia to put the letters in the right order. She got so excited and began to sing the alphabet song to help her out. She would run back and forth grabbing each new letter, singing as she placed each letter in the right order. It was fun watching her as she figured out the where the letters go. Then in no time, our floor was covered with a humongous alphabet puzzle.  It sure was fun!

This is a great activity for kids, not only do they get to be creative and paint, but they also have to think about the alphabet, the order of the letters, and words that start with that particular letter.

Now, what are you waiting for…get your paint, brushes and get creative with the little ones.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,
