My husband and I love to read books to our 5-year-old daughter. Every day before bedtime we choose some books to read to her. Sometimes we read four to six books sometimes we read one book four to six times. It doesn’t matter my daughter loves to read and hear stories. She even likes to make her own books with her grandma. So why I saw this book Pirates and Princesses I knew she would love this one too.
Pirates and Princesses was written by New York Times bestselling novelist Jill Kargman, and her eight-year-old daughter Sadie Kargman. It was illustrated by Christine Davenier. They wrote the book after a similar incident that happened to Sadie. It is a story about babyhood friends Fletch and Ivy, who enter kindergarten and find out boys play with the boys and the girls play with the girls. Fletch is on the Pirate side and Ivy with the Princesses. Well, Ivy gets captured by the pirates and Fletch ends up saving her. Then they realize they miss playing with each other and decide to change how the kids play. It is a great story of cooperation and open-mindedness, beautifully illustrated with watercolors.
My daughter and I, really liked this Pirates and Princesses. Now, this is one of the books we have to read four to six times a night to my daughter.

We love to read and go through a few books each night before bed. Now that my son has mandatory reading time at school, he often reads a book or two to his sister before bed. I think both my son and daughter would enjoy this book!
