Holiday Gift Guide: Penelope Crumb by Shawn K. Stout

December 2, 2012

This book called Penelope Crumb, by Shawn K. Stout, is about a forth grader who carries a red tool box just about everywhere she goes. This toolbox belonged to her dad, who passed away when Penelope was a little baby. Some of the things that Penelope does are as follow; she keeps a list for government chronicling in which her brother turns in to an alien, and Penelope helps her home schooled friend/neighbor Littie with a lot of her projects

Penelope ‘s best friend Patsy has a school project in which she has to draw a portrait of Penelope. Penelope sees that Patsy drew her with a big nose, and thought it was just Patsy’s poor drawing skills and didn’t think too much of it. That was until Penelope find out that she does indeed have a big nose. Just like her grandfather Felix. In the end this story is full of fun, heartfelt chapters about how Penelope ended up using her huge nose to end up finding her grandfather to finally completing her family.

This is a great book which I truly enjoy reading to my daughter. I definitely recommend Penelope Crumb by Shawn K. Stout to every young reader. This will make a great holiday gift.

Happy Holidays
