Halloween: Chocolate Covered Bat Berries

October 28, 2014

Well, it is that time of year again when we all enjoy getting dressed up for Halloween and the great parties that go with it.  So here is a great Halloween Party snack idea that both you and your friends will enjoy.  It is easy to do, doesn’t take a lot of time to prepare, and the materials are easy to find.

I was given the opportunity to review some delicious fruits from Driscoll and they had some wonderful Halloween recipes that you can make with their yummy fruits.  I like their adorable recipe “Strawberry Ghosts”, it is easy to make and a fun way to keep the kids entertained.  Now, based on the wonderful creativity of Driscoll’s , I decided with the help of my daughter to make our own wonderful creation for Halloween as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 package (16 ounces) Driscoll’s Strawberries
  • chocolate melts
  • Candy eyes
  • Fine-tipped white icing tube
  • Decorative bat wings

I followed the exact instructions from the Driscoll’s recipe, but just made it my own. I started off by washing the Driscoll’s strawberries and quickly dried them off.  I placed wax paper on a serving dish and placed the strawberries on the dish.  I then took a bowl and placed the candy melts in the microwave for about 20 seconds (2 times).  Once it was completely melted, I dipped the strawberries one by one in the melted chocolate and placed them back on the serving dish.  Once all the strawberries were dipped in,  we began decorating them with bat wings, candy eyes and of course a smile.  That’s the part my daughter did.  She wanted to create a smile for them, so the Chocolate Covered Bat Berries could be happy and smiling.  It sure made me happy!  Before I could even take a picture, she already started to eat the chocolate covered berries.  She really liked them and wants to make more.

Now, you can also use the Driscoll’s recipe idea as well to make your very own Strawberry Ghosts, or you can make you very own like how I did. Which ever you decide to do, I believe it will be worth it and you will have lots of fun making them.  Enjoy and make some for your family and friends on Halloween.

Sincerely,
