Fall Crafts for the kids

November 18, 2015

I know most of you are thinking about what you will be preparing for Thanksgiving and getting ready for family visiting. Who doesn’t love to eat a nice meal on Thanksgiving day? I know I do, and I am pretty sure that you all love it as well. I especially can’t forget all the desserts that will be waiting after the Thanksgiving meal!  With all the food and fun of Thanksgiving I want to teach my kids about “What We Are Thankful For” by creating a fun fall craft activities.  These cool craft activities can be done before Thanksgiving or even the day of, just to keep them busy.

Turkey

I  started by drawing out a Turkey and then colored it in various fall colors using red, orange and brown crayons.  Inside the feathers, I wrote down what we are thankful for such as, friends, our home, church, family and more.  I also wanted my son to make a craft activity so I  gathered some construction paper in the following colors brown, red and orange.  Then I cut out a feather shapes out of the construction papers.

Glue sticks
Paper Plate (to make a round circle)
Manila Folder (since I did not have paper plate on hand)
Markers

Turkey2My son and I worked actively together on the Turkey craft and glued each feather shaped piece slightly under the edges of the paper plate.  Then we added all the features of the face and voila, we were done.  Don’t forget to add the turkey legs (we forgot) but added later on.

All you have to do is place your child’s hands on a each color of construction paper and trace his hands.  After that cut out his hand print. Make sure you cut a few hand prints and write what you and your family or thankful for.   To create the stem you use brown color construction paper and draw out a tree stem and then cut it out.  Make sure you glue the pieces together. I then used my Chart tablet on the table and we glued the tree stem on top of it and then we added the hand prints and some on the bottom of the stem.  And our Thankful Tree was done!  It was a real fun activity for the kids.

Now, go and make some fun fall activities with your kids and family! Until next time!
