My sewing and photography passion

December 9, 2015

The Christmas spirit is flowing within me and I am excited to tell you all about what I have been up to this past weekend. To start off, you all know that I love to sew just about anything I can get my hands on. So I decided I will take a day to start to sew some wonderful children clothes for both of my kids.

DSC_0231-copy-681x1024-1I ended up making this adorable scalloped knit dress in a mustard yellow color for my daughter. If you don’t  already know, knit fabrics tend to be a little difficult to deal with. However, once you are used to making beautiful garments with it you will get the hang of it.  The moment I saw the fabric I already knew what I would make with it, an adorable peasant dress.  My daughter prefers fabrics that are soft and flexible so she can move with ease since she likes doing cartwheels so much.  The dress was very easy to make. My daughter had to come back and forth for the fitting a few times, but everything else went smoothly. I love how it turned out. I decided to pick up a matching hair band, which I paired with some gold/cream stockings and lovely brown boots. She was really happy with her new dress and didn’t want to take it off.

DSC_0222-copyIt was time for my little model to showcase her dress made by mommy. Here is where my photography passion comes in place as well. Ahead of time my husband knew where we could take some beautiful pictures and the background would be full of trees.  Unfortunately, it rained the day before so it was a little muddy, and I didn’t think it would be a smart idea to take the family into a big muddy mess. The kids would love it, but not this time.  So, we drove a little further and found a beautiful path with lovely trees and bushes.  I said this is the place.

DSC_0170-copy-1I made sure the kids were having fun the entire time. I started to take a few posing pictures and then it was time for them to go wild.  They let loose and ran on the beautiful open path with the gorgeous tree scenery behind them.  It had such a warm feeling to it, and most of all we had fun taking the pictures.  Lastly, my daughter is a little photographer too, because she took this lovely picture of me and I was so proud of her photography skills.  She wants a camera, and has added it to her Christmas list.

DSC_0256-copyNow that you know what my passion is, I would like to know what your. passions and hobbies are. Share some of your stories with me, I would love to hear them.

Happy Holidays!

Sincerely,

The only thing that I can sew are pillowcases and would love one day to make a skirt for myself. Lovely pictures!

I found you via facebook and came by to see your site. You have a lovely blog and the pictures are so beautiful. I love taking pictures but I don’t call myself a professional photographer. I am just a beginner taking pictures at family and school events.

I really can’t sew one thing, I wish I could though. Seeing all the beautiful kids clothes, just makes you want to at least try. I love how the dress turned out and the color looks great on your daughter. Would love to see a tutorial from you one day. She did a great job taking your picture and looks really professional.
