Hotel Review: DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria

April 3, 2016

It is always nice to take a moment in your busy life to relax and get away with the family. So on Easter weekend we had the wonderful opportunity to stay at the DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria.

doubletree23DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria is located 30 to 45 minutes from Hobby and George Bush Intercontinental airports.  There are a plethora of delicious restaurants, with lots of fun popular attractions nearby. Of course you will be one block away from the Galleria Mall which has over 400 shopping and dining places. You know I definitely like that.

doubletree12As we drove by the main entrance of the DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria, we had a chance to admire the beautiful palm trees at the front entrance which provided a very inviting atmosphere to the hotel.   We immediately found a parking space and walked up to the main entrance of the hotel.

doubletree11The check in time was 3:00 pm and we were greeted by two friendly attendants. We provided them with our room confirmation number, received the room card and we were given a complimentary tin full of chocolate chip cookies.  My kids were delighted and couldn’t wait to try them out.  They even informed us about their outdoor pool, and both of my kids got excited. My kids are fascinated with the elevators,  so they each wanted to press the button to our hotel room floor.

doubletree6We finally arrived in our Hotel room, and we all were mesmerized by the suite.  The suite had two luxurious queen beds, and  includes a kitchen and balcony.  Yes, my kids were so excited that they started to walk through the entire suite immediately.

doubletree26As you walk through the main door of the suite to your right you will find the kitchen which includes microwave, coffee maker,  Full-Size Refrigerator, Oven and Stove. Plus, DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria provide you with plates, pots, glasses and utensils.  I was very excited about having the kitchen, because when you are traveling with kids, especially mine, they tend to want to snack periodically throughout the day and it is nice to have a refrigerator to hold necessary items such as juice, milk, fruit and so on to keep the kids happy. And since it is a full kitchen you can pretty much accomplish anything in it.

doubletree25Then you have a seating area with a Sofa Sleeper, Dining Table and Chairs,  37 inch  LCD Flat Panel HD TV and Ergonomic Desk Chair.   Yes, all that in that area.  My husband loves the sofa sleeper and the extra TV, since he enjoys watching his  games. This way everyone could watch what they wanted.

doubletree7We had a chance to step on to the balcony and the view was impeccable and very mesmerizing.

doubletree18At night it was even more beautiful, to see the lights glittering throughout the city. It was just like a page from a magazine.

doubletree2The room included 2 queen beds, with a TV, comfortable chair, small side table, and a lovely view from the bedroom as well.

doubletree3The bathroom was nice, bright, clean and  refreshing to look at.

doubletree4The kids wanted to take a tour of the outdoor pool, but there was a light cold breeze. However, that didn’t stop the kids from enjoying the pool.  The hotel has fresh towels on hand so you do not have to worry about bringing your own towels. Which was a relief since we forgot ours in the hotel room.  We ended up meeting a few other people there and it was really fun.

doubletree14After swimming we headed back into the hotel room, and decided to order some room service. I must say, it was absolutely delicious.

See for yourself. DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria menu is filled with local favorites, chicken sandwiches, shrimp pasta, salad, pizza and more.  I ate every bit of it and the kids as well. Then we all tried a delicious cookie from the cookie tin we received at the front desk. Yummy!

The next morning we had the pleasure to visit the breakfast area, which was nice. Off to side there is a nice to-go mart which has many wonderful, fresh, healthy and delicious items to snack on.

The shelves were filled with fresh fruits, flowers and more….  So much to enjoy!

The main area of the hotel is very inviting, you will find several sections with seating areas to have short conversations with friends and family and a nice bar section as well.
doubletree19 The kids wanted to visit the Galleria which was a block away from the DoubleTree Hotel & Suites Houston by the Galleria. My daughter went ice-skating with my husband, while me and my son visited the Lego store and the kids play area.

doubletree1The kids had fun at the Galleria mall and said they definitely wanted to come again. They couldn’t believe all the fabulous stores.

First of all you have a beautiful family! I live in Dallas but husband usually comes to Houston for business and we always try to find hotels close to the galleria mall. To give the kids a place to go to. I definitely like the kitchen myself because it helps with the cost instead eating out a lot. It definitely look inviting and love the seating areas.
