I am back again with another wonderful, fun and easy Halloween craft project. We will be making some scary, yet lovable Bats. Yes, Sophia was all into it and was ready and willing to start on this project. So let’s begin.
Materials
- Black Foam
- Bat Template
- Plastic thread, string or any other material you have at hand
Now, you will basically print out your bat template or draw your own. You can easily found a lot of templates anywhere on the internet. I preferred the heavy structure of the foam over construction paper because I was planning on hanging some outdoors as well. If I made them out of construction paper, they would get wet from the rain or my sprinkler system. I can’t have all my hard work go to waste right :). Now, enough of all that chit chat, let us begin the craft project.
Get your black foam. In my case I did not have a big enough piece of black foam for my template so I had to fold the bat template in half and trace it over two pieces of black foam. With the 2 pieces of the bat pattern, I then hot glued them together in the center. If you find a bigger piece of foam you can easily cut it in once piece instead 2, and make you life a lot easier. Fold the wings in half so they look like they are about the fly off. Sophia told me that the bat wings look like witches shoes. I looked again and she was right, they do kind of look like witches shoes.
After I cut my pieces and glued them together, I set them aside to cool. Next, I made some holes in the wings so some of the bats would face up. Then I put some holes in the tail so they would be upside-down. Pull some thread through the holes and secure with several knots.
Now I was done, and with help of my dear husband we hung the Scary Bats in the kitchen. I must say they look great and were so easy to make. My son is just loving the bats hanging from the ceiling. It gives him something to look at and it kept him busy for awhile. As scary as the bats may be they don’t frighten the cookie monsters around my house! LOL
Even you can make those scary bats too. Enjoy and until next time!
Sincerely,
Bats! I love it, it looks easy enough to do thanks
