Valentine Rose Bouquet

January 16, 2011

I truly love flowers, and I always adore those lovely bouquets of flowers I receive during holidays. I usually buy them during special occasions but I never tried to design or create one myself. But guess what? As I was doing my grocery shopping, I happened to pass by the flower section and I just had to buy a few. So, when I came home I thought, I will put them in a vase and that will be it. But to be honest, I totally didn’t like the way they looked. Now wait, here is the good part. Something went like a bell in my head. I thought I will try to do my own flower arrangement and that’s where the idea of my Valentine Rose Bouquet came about. Now, let’s start our project.

Supplies:

  • Flowers (a dozen Roses and Alstroemerias- You can get them from your local grocery store or florist.)
  • Small Clear Vase (any kind you desire)
  • Scotch Tape
  • Tape Measure
  • Scissors
  • Red Ribbon (or any color you desire)
  • Water
  • Flower Food

First, you start clipping all the leaves from both the roses and the Alstroemeria. Keep the leaves of the Alstroemeria and put it aside. Next, reach for your small clear vase and fill it with water along with some flower food. Place the Alstroemeria leaves in the bowl with water and get some rose petals and place those on the side of the vase.

Measure the height of the vase, this will determine how short you cut the stems of your flowers. After cutting all the stems, it was time to arrange my flowers. I started off with the roses. I placed all the roses against one another and looked to see if they were well arranged. I pointed my flower arrangement in the mirror, so I could see if it looked fine, and it did. Then, take the scotch tape and start wrapping the roses together.

Now, hold on to your rose bouquet and reach for your Alstroemeria flowers and arrange them one by one around the entire rose bouquet. Once you have done so, get your tape one more time and wrap it around the entire bouquet. Finally, cut all the stems evenly and place the Valentine Rose Bouquet in your beautifully decorated vase. Take the red ribbon, and tie a nice bow around the vase. Voila, now you have created your own Valentine Rose Bouquet.

It is quick and easy to make and can be given to your special loved one whether it is your husband, mom, daughter, neighbor, father, grandparents, yourself and so on.  They will definitely adore it! Enjoy.

Now, let me know if you ever  made a flower bouquet on your own, or tell me who you would love to send flowers too?

Sincerely,

    Wonderful post!
    Thanks for sharing.

I actually have had the opportunity to make my own bouquets.
When I was pregnant for my first, I stepped down from my demanding career and took a position with a florist and learned the business from the ground up and loved every minute of it. I think being a florist was my career goal when I was 7 or 8. What a treat to be able to step into that role, if even for a short period.

My favorite bouquets to create were presentation style and Alstroemeria have long been my favorite bloom!

What a beautiful arrangement! I love getting fresh flowers at the grocery store for no reason other than they are pretty or I wanted to freshen up the kitchen, dining room or bedroom. Very nice. I will have to try this sometime. I love cutting fresh peonies also, they smell so wonderful! Great post!
