I can’t believe that school is already back in session. The kids are definitely not so happy about it. It is always better to do your school supply shopping a little early to beat the busy crowds, however we found some great deals at various places.
Backpacks: If you want to avoid the back to school shopping chaos, then you can always shop online. That’s what I did when I shopped for both my kids backpacks.
My daughter will be going to 7th grade and she tends to carry almost everything in her backpack, so she wanted a spacious backpack. She ended up using the High Sierra Loop backpack in the sand/ash. It has huge compartments with several pockets ( mesh pocket, pen pockets, lidded media pocket) which will keep all her supplies organized. I love the padded shoulder straps with suspension. It even comes with a matching lunch bag. Dimensions are:

My son , the first grader, ended up with the Mackenzie Navy Shark Backpack from Pottery Barn along with the matching lunch bag. You can even monogram your child’s name on his backpack or even his lunch bag. The overall dimensions are 13.5″ wide x 9″ deep x 17″ high.
They needed a lot of composition note books, a planner, crayons, binders, glue sticks, hand sanitizer, construction paper, tissue paper, baby wipes, markers, pocket folders, pencil box, and we ended up getting them all.
I know some schools do allow parents to order school materials in advance and it is shipped directly to the school. I was actually considering doing that, however my daughter wanted her own unique school supplies. I said let’s do it, because it’s another reason to go shopping! One of my favorite online store is Amazon, and with prime membership you can get your package in two days. You can’t beat that.
