My First Vlogging Camera- A5100!

September 22, 2018

Well, hello there again! Today I am so excited to share with you guys My First Vlogging Camera-The Sony 5100!  Besides blogging, I also have a passion for photography, taking videos while traveling and all the other fun stuff associated with a camera…oh yes, making lasting memories.   And with that said, shopping for the right camera that will fit your budget and one that is handy and easy to carry around is a very important priority to consider.

A Great Beginner Camera

The Sony 5100 camera would be a great fit for a newbie who wants a small camera, with a flip up screen, a pretty good camera and is within their budget. It can be overwhelming when you hear those famous camera terms such as Aperture, ISO and shutter speed, plus a million other terms out there. How do you keep up?  It can be really challenging for a newbie to handle!

A touch screen really makes a difference when you try to focus on a subject.  The Sony 5100  touch-sensitive screen gives you the capabilities to focus and capture images with a touch of your fingers on the screen.  You have the ability to set the screen on continuous focus. YES, that’s a great option to have, especially since I have an ACTIVE 6 year old who is running around thinking that he is Spiderman or Sonic. You definitely want that feature on your camera.  A+ feature for me, I say!

A LCD Screen – but  NO viewfinder

Ok just to let you know, this sweet little camera does not have a view finder,  only the LCD Screen to shoot images from or while filming your travel videos.  I must admit that I had to get used to it while taking pictures, but after a few tries it was just fine.  To get things in perspective, we are all taking pictures with cellphones, which to me is like a LCD screen and your camera phone does not have a view finder right… so, it’s No big deal..believe me!   Wait…I am not done yet. The 3-inch LCD screen tilts up 180 degrees for shooting selfies or while filming. Nice! No more waiting in the hopes to find a bystander who can take a snapshot of you or your family.  Travel pictures will be of good quality and hey no more waiting for a stranger!  What a relief! LOL

This camera is really small, handy and can easily fit in your handbag. The body measures just 4.3 x 2.5 x 1.4 inches.  I love the fact that it has a great right-hand grip, so you can hold your camera really tight and secure while taking pictures or even recording.  No more carrying bulky cameras around when traveling…I Like that a lot!  Thank you Sony!  The mirrorless cameras have a smaller body and  smaller batteries which means the sensors are always receiving power, so you’ll quickly end up with a low battery and less images taken.  All I have to say, is  get an extra rechargeable battery and have it charged so you have it on hand.

Wifi Capabilities

Now, speaking of Wifi… this compact camera can easily be linked up to your smart phone…Who wouldn’t like this feature.  Definitely an extra bonus I wasn’t really expecting, but it’s really a nice surprise!

What came in the Sony A5100 Box
AC Adapter
Rechargeable Battery Pack
Shoulder strap
Micro USB Cable
Standard Zoom Lens (EPZ16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS)

The Sony a5100 retails for $449.99 at Best Buy and also Amazon for $448.00.  You can also shop around for bundles where you get other items with it, such as cleaning supplies for the camera, memory card and more.

NOTE: Not all accessories are available in all countries.  I didn’t get the battery charger with the camera.  I had to order it separately from Amazon which is the BC-TRW.

Overall, I love the camera and I would definitely recommend for traveling and for a novice photographer.

Happy filming or snapping pictures!

Sincerely,
