Halloween Snake Wreath

October 9, 2013

Well, It’s that time again where we all start to decorate for Halloween.  My daughter is so excited about dressing up for Halloween and all the candy and goodies she will be collecting.  But what I enjoy the most, is doing all the fun Halloween crafts.

I decided it was time to do some Halloween decorating and this time around it would be the front door. Since I am an active crafter, I usually have some supplies at hand.  Now, let’s begin.

Materials:

  • Rubber Snakes
  • Grapevine Wreath
  • Black Spray Paint
  • Craft Wire
  • Hot glue
  • Black and white polka dot tulle
  • Glass Bead
  • Small red sequin for the eye
  • Black Acrylic Paint
  • Brush

Now that we have all the supplies, we can start on our product.  First, we will paint the rubber snakes.  You can easily pick these up at Walmart or even at the one dollar store. The snake came in different colors, so that is why we are going to paint them with black acrylic paint.  This gives the snakes that scary look.  Make sure you place some newspaper underneath because it gets quite messy and try to paint outdoors.  Sophia loved to paint the snakes, however she liked throwing snakes at me to scare me LOL.

Next, we will spray the grapevine wreath  black and set aside to dry.  Once the wreath is dry it is time to wrap the snakes around the wreath with the wire. It is really easy to do.  Then your ready to create your Black and white polka dot bow and hot glue the glass bead in the center of the bow.  Then you will hot glue the bow onto the wreath when your done.  Make sure to wrap a little piece of tulle around the wreath and tie several knots to keep it secure.  Voila, now your ready to hang the wreath on your door.  I saw this craft idea on Martha Stewart’s website but added my version to it.  I added a few simple add-ons such as bigger snakes and I added a little bow to give it a more glamorous look.   Sophia said if I add bigger snakes it will scare the trick or treaters even more LOL.

Well, enjoy and stay tuned for more Halloween craft projects.
